Meet Dr. Daniel Dastrup
I grew up right here in Tempe, Arizona, and went to high school at Corona Del Sol. Right after high school, I went on a service mission for my church to the Philippines for two years. It was there that I saw the devastating impact that bad teeth and poor oral health can have on a person’s self-esteem and quality of life. I saw how much need there was in the world and decided I wanted to make a difference.
When I came home from the Philippines, I attended Brigham Young University in Utah. I came home for Thanksgiving one year and ran into my future wife. The funny thing is that I had known her and her family from the time I was five years old. I went to school with her older sister and had even tried to set her up with my younger brother a few years before. We got married a year and a half later and moved across the country to Maryland, where I attended the University of Maryland Dental School, the first dental school in the world, and received my Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree. We loved it out there, but Arizona will always be our home. We couldn’t get back here soon enough.
I love dentistry and the opportunity I get every day to serve people. I love just talking to people and doing whatever I can to improve their lives. Dentistry isn’t just about teeth for me, but about the person attached to those teeth. So far, I have been able to go on dental service trips back to the Philippines as well as to Ethiopia. As an office, we volunteer here in the community with the Arizona Mission of Mercy as well as the Dental Lifeline Network. It is my life-long goal to improve access to dental care both here in the community as well as throughout the world.
When I’m not practicing dentistry, I enjoy spending time with my family and doing any of my million hobbies. I love wakeboarding, dirt biking, mountain biking, competing in Ironman triathlons, snowboarding, and anything else adventurous. I try to get the most out of life and then give it all back.
Both I and the team here at 32 Perfect believe that transitioning into a new era doesn’t mean that we’re leaving behind the commitment to caring, compassionate service that has long been the hallmark of this practice. Everything we do is geared toward continuing to provide the best possible comprehensive dental care in the most convenient and efficient manner possible for each of our patients, which is why we offer all services right here in our office. When you visit our dentist’s office here in Scottsdale, you’ll see exactly how we work to make your visit with us as comfortable as possible—from the greeting you receive as you walk through the doors to our attention to detail throughout your appointment. We believe in going beyond mere dentistry into treating each patient as an individual. We hope it shows.
